Our Recruitment Process in South West London

Applications

All applications for vacancies across South West London are accepted via NHS Jobs or Trac Jobs, once the advert has closed all applications are collated from these sources into our Trac ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and forwarded to the Hiring manager for consideration. This is where the shortlisting process commences.

Shortlisting

Hiring managers will shortlist application forms against the Essential and Desirable Criteria stated on the person specification. You will be informed via Trac if you have been shortlisted, this usually takes place a few days after the closing date.

Interview/Assessments

If you are shortlisted you will be invited to an interview, this could be either via video link (Microsoft Teams/Zoom or Skype) or face to face (provided social distancing can be observed). All invitations to interview will be via the Trac system (you will receive an email notification), with a minimum of 7 days notice of the interview date.

The Interview panel will consist of a ‘Chair’ (this is usually the Hiring Manager), together with between one to three other panel members, who would have experience of the role or recruitment process.

An assessment may also form part of the selection criteria, this could be in the form of a written assessment, formal presentation, practical test or in-tray exercise. The assessment will be relevant to the role you have applied for.

Next Steps

Following the interview, you will be contacted by the Hiring Manager who will advise you on the outcome of your interview and/or assessment. If you are unsuccessful you can be given feedback as to your performance if you require it. If you are successful you will be emailed a formal conditional offer of employment. All conditional offers at this stage are subject to you fulfilling several pre-employment checks, these include:

  • Employment references covering a period of 3 years.

  • Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (if required for role)

  • Professional registration check (if required for role)

  • Occupational Health clearance

Once we have received satisfactory pre-employment checks, the Recruitment Hub Team will advise you that you have been cleared and negotiate a mutually convenient start date with you to commence at your chosen South West London Trust.

Your career, your future choose the NHS in South West London.
